At Liberty we know that God has called us to make a difference in our community in the name of Jesus Christ. The COVID-19 virus is making an unprecedented impact in many people’s lives both in Hampton Roads and around the world. Unemployment and the reduced work hours are causing financial challenges. The elderly and immune-compromised find themselves fearful and isolated. Both those who are sick with the virus and their family members and friends are feeling a significant strain. At Liberty, we often say, “it’s not just church, it’s life!” Now is the time, more than ever, for Liberty to BE THE CHURCH. Our faith is more than attending one hour on Sunday mornings. Our faith permeates all of our life, especially in times of suffering. God has placed us in our community to be the salt and light in the midst of the darkness of this virus. Please see opportunities below if you have a need, or can help meet a need.
Many of you are facing the storm right now and are in need. If you need toilet paper, we have some for you at our campuses. This resource can be obtained during the church’s normal office hours. We are also willing to pick-up and deliver your groceries, prescriptions and supplies for the elderly and immune-compromised. Further, we are mobilizing people to pray for you. We know that the most powerful weapon we have against the spread of the virus is prayer. Please use the form below to share with us your care and prayer needs.
“‘For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.'”

– Matthew 25:35-36

Liberty is mobilizing people and groups to meet the needs of people within Hampton Roads. We have a place for you to serve whether it be delivering food or supplies to the elderly or immune-compromised, sewing masks (or donating sewing supplies) for health care professionals or praying for people. Also, our local campuses are mobilizing to partner with organizations like local food banks, hospitals and organizations to maximize the efforts to serve others. We desire all our volunteers to take necessary precautions for their health, such as hand washing, sanitizing, using protective equipment, exercising social distancing and organizing in teams of ten or less. In addition, we are asking volunteers to stay at home when they are sick or when they have been exposed to someone with the COVID-19 virus. We call our volunteers the “Life Team.” If you would like to join the Coronavirus Life Team, fill out the form below.
“For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

– Mark 10:45

As businesses close and unemployment continues to rise, many people and families are finding themselves without financial resources. We can do something to meet this growing need. We can give and do our part by giving a financial gift to help provide food through food gift cards. For $50, you can provide a gift card to help feed a family for a week.
In addition to feeding families, your gift can help us care for the elderly and provide financial resources to those that find themselves without jobs or reduced work hours.
“In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”

– Acts 20:35

The most powerful weapon we have to combat fear, the spread of the COVID-19 virus, and healing for those affected is prayer. As the Church, God has called us to stand in the gap through prayer.
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

– Philippians 4:6-7
