During a week-long mission trip at New York School of Urban Ministry (NYSUM), students receive practical urban ministry training and engage in a variety of compassionate outreach activities across New York City. Each day includes hands-on ministry experiences such as street evangelism, volunteering in soup kitchens, compassion outreach to homeless and disabled individuals, children’s and veterans’ ministries, and multicultural engagement in diverse neighborhoods—all under the guidance of NYSUM instructors. Outreach also may involve prayer walks through iconic city locations like Ground Zero, the Brooklyn Bridge, and the United Nations.
