How Can I Have Confidence in Christ?

In a world filled with uncertainty, it’s easy to feel shaken. But what if you could face life with unshakable confidence, knowing you’re secure in God’s promises? The Bible makes it clear that true confidence isn’t found in our own abilities or circumstances—it’s found in Jesus Christ.

“I have written these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.” (1 John 5:13)

This assurance invites us to live with confidence based on God’s promises, answered prayers, and eternal truths.

Confidence in God’s Promises

God doesn’t want His children to live in fear or uncertainty. His Word is filled with promises we can rely on. Eternal life is a gift from God, secured through the finished work of Jesus. When doubts creep in, stand on God’s Word. As Jesus said, “All that the Father gives me will come to me, and I will never cast them out.” (John 6:37)

“Nothing can separate us from the love of God.”

His promises are trustworthy and unchanging.

Confidence Through Prayer

Prayer is one of the greatest gifts God has given us. “If we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.” (1 John 5:14) When we pray in alignment with God’s will, we can trust that He hears and answers. Prayer isn’t just a practice—it’s a relationship. As we seek Him daily, we grow in confidence and peace.

Confidence Over Fear

Fear often robs us of the confidence God intends for us to have. But John reminds us, “Perfect love drives out fear.” (1 John 4:18) In Christ, we’re no longer condemned—we’re loved and forgiven. Walking with God replaces fear with assurance, protection, and peace.

The closer we walk with God, the more confidence we have in His care.

Confidence by Avoiding Idols

John ends his letter with: “Little children, guard yourselves from idols.” (1 John 5:21) Anything that takes God’s place in our hearts—money, success, even good things—can steal our confidence. Generosity helps guard our hearts and reminds us to trust God above all.
