O Come, O Come Emmanuel: God With Us Yesterday, Today, and Forever

God With Us Yesterday

The story of Emmanuel began long before Jesus was born in Bethlehem. The prophecy in Isaiah 7:14 “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Emmanuel” was fulfilled in Matthew 1:23. But the promise of Emmanuel traces even further back to the Garden of Eden. After Adam and Eve sinned, God declared that the seed of the woman would crush the serpent’s head (Genesis 3:15) a foreshadowing of Christ’s coming. Throughout history, God has been with His people in the fire with Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego; in the lion’s den with Daniel; and in the trials of Joseph. Looking back, we can see His faithfulness in every season.

“Emmanuel” is not just a name, it’s a reminder of God’s presence in every part of our story.

God With Us Today

The message of Christmas isn’t just about a historical event, it’s about God’s presence with us right now. Jesus came not just to dwell among us but to ransom us from sin. Mark 10:45 says, “The Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Emmanuel entered our broken world to heal, restore, and redeem. Whether you’re facing grief, loneliness, or stress this season, take heart: God is with you. He is your Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6).

God With Us Forever

The story of Emmanuel continues into eternity. Hebrews 13:8 tells us Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Revelation 21:3 declares, “God’s dwelling place is now among the people.” No matter what lies ahead, we are never alone. His presence brings peace, His love endures, and His kingdom will never end.

God’s presence didn’t stop at the manger or the cross, it continues with us forever.

Are You With God?

The real question isn’t whether God is with us, He already is. The question is: Are you with Him? Have you accepted the gift of salvation through Christ? The message of Emmanuel invites you to receive that gift and walk with God every day. If you’re ready to embrace this truth, we’d love to walk with you.
