“April showers bring May flowers.” Well guess what? May 1 is this Saturday!
As we look toward a new month, I hope you will sense an opportunity for a fresh start. Not just in terms of the weather, but also in terms of life. March marked a year since our country shut down because of COVID, but praise God, this spring we are not in the same place we were last spring!
Maybe you’ve felt like this past year or this past month or this past week was full of “showers.” The good news is that spring is a time when things that have been dead and cold all winter, bring forth new life. May is a new month! It’s a new opportunity for a fresh start! Let’s go into this May ready to start growing and flourishing again.
At Liberty, May 1 also marks the start of a new Groups semester. I love the Zambian proverb that says, “When you run alone, you run fast. When you run together, you run far.” We need each other. The Christian life was not meant to be lived alone. Over the years some of the people that Tammy and I have been in groups with have become our best friends. They became our family when we were away from family. They were, and still are, some of our biggest encouragers. Groups have helped us grow so much in our faith. We even met in a group!
If you’re not gathering together with other believers on a regular basis to encourage one another, read Scripture together, and pray, there’s no better time to start than now. We have groups that meet on campus, in homes, and online, and groups for all ages and life stages. You can go to www.libertylive.church/groups and look at all the options. Why not try something new?
I’m praying our 2021 prayer promise over you now and asking that God, “who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think,” would work His power in you this May for a fresh start. I pray you’d see Him do more than you ever thought, for His glory, to all generations. (Eph. 3:20-21)
It is a joy to be your Pastor!
