Why Should You Join God’s Team?

Every championship team has one thing in common: they are built, not born. Coaches spend countless hours recruiting the right players, training them, and developing them into a unit that works together to accomplish a goal. The same is true in life, in business, in marriage—and especially in the Church.

At Liberty, we believe TOGETHER EVERYONE ACHIEVES MORE (T.E.A.M.). God has designed us to work together, to build one another up, and to use our gifts for His glory. The truth is, we were never meant to live life alone. The Bible says:

“Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up.” (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10)

God’s game plan is clear: He has called you to be part of something bigger than yourself. And just like any great team, we each have a role to play.

What Does It Mean to Be on God’s Team?

Being on God’s team means using the gifts He has given you to serve others and make an impact for His kingdom. You don’t have to be a pastor or a worship leader to play a vital role. The Bible teaches that every believer has been given spiritual gifts to use for God’s glory.

Romans 12 lists several of these gifts:

  • Teaching – Helping others understand God’s Word
  • Serving – Meeting practical needs in the church and community
  • Encouraging – Uplifting and strengthening those who are struggling
  • Giving – Supporting the mission of the church with generosity
  • Leadership – Guiding and organizing others toward a common goal
  • Mercy – Showing compassion to those who are hurting

The best part? When you use your gifts, you experience the fulfillment and joy that comes from living out your God-given purpose.

Why Should You Join the Team?

You were made for community. God designed the church to be a family. Just like a football team relies on every player to win, the church thrives when each member is actively involved. The early church was together in worship, together in prayer, and together in mission (Acts 2:46).

You will grow spiritually. When you serve, you grow. God uses the challenges, relationships, and experiences within His team to stretch your faith, deepen your trust in Him, and refine your character.

You will make an eternal impact. Winning a Super Bowl ring is great, but it pales in comparison to the eternal rewards that come from serving Jesus. The Bible says: “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth…but store up for yourselves treasures in heaven.” (Matthew 6:19-20) Every act of service, every prayer, every person you impact—it all counts for eternity.

You will experience more joy. Jesus said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive” (Acts 20:35). There is a unique joy and fulfillment that comes from serving others and being part of something that truly matters.
